To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Mystic River Park, MRHS created an informational panel detailing the history of the Cottrell Lumber Company, which stood on the park grounds for 168 years, from 1820-1988. Research for the panel was conducted by MRHS board members Marilyn Comrie and Elizabeth Boucher. The panel was designed by Arlene Anderson, installed by the Mystic River Park Commission and paid for with the generous support of the Charles B. Allyn Foundation.
